Barcelona will push to sign the Olympique Lyon star in January after failing to get him on the last transfer market. However, he may have to face a complaint if the employees of the ERTE denounce him.
Barcelona have been going through a rollercoaster of emotions for months. The resignation of its president after a vote of no confidence, serious economic problems, a sporting reconstruction…
The board of the team is currently juggling to keep all the club’s players satisfied. While negotiating the controversial salary reduction with the squad and other workers of the club, Barca can not turn their eyes away from some possible signings.
In that sense, Memphis Depay remains one of the priorities for the whole club. The Netherlands international could not come a few months ago because there was literally no ‘cash’ to pay his transfer and salary with.
Barca hope, therefore, to be able to sell somebody in January to be able to sign one of the great objectives of Ronald Koeman. The manager has made it known that the player interests him and also that the economic situation is complicating his signing.
The reduction that Lyon will make in his price will be important. As only six months will remain for the completion of his contract, at which time Depay could go free, the French club will offer him to Barca for only six million.
It revealed to ‘Sporting World’ that the player’s reduction in cost could help facilitate the signing. although it would risk the ire of those employees who are in the ERTE who’s salaries are set to be reduced.
How will Barcelona then justify the need for a salary reduction and, at the same time, spend six million euros on a transfer? The sale of several footballers could be the only justification for a club that the next elections do not help much either.
